Welcome to another livestream of Geeking Poetic Podcast!
We are happy to finally debut our new all music discussion segment titled SPIN TO WIN! Spin To Win is not a contest, but rather a show that discusses music from all different genres--- from classic rock to heavy metal to pop to blues to country and so much more! In this first episode, Geeking Poetic host Larry Roberts is discussing his picks for the Top Five Record Albums released in the year 1973! Since that was the year he was born, he thought it was as good a place to start as any. And there's so much to choose from, with diverse artists such as Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Alice Cooper, Mott The Hoople, Iggy and the Stooges and so many more iconic artists releasing amazing albums in 1973! Watch and listen to see what his picks were, and a bunch of honorable mentions that needed to be discussed as well! Co-host Megan Guess will be keeping track of the livestream chat and adding in her two cents where applicable! In this episode we choose our top five favorite MOVIE MACGUFFINS! What's a Macguffin you ask? Well for those who aren't familiar with the term, it's generally described as an object or device in a movie or a book that serves merely as a trigger for the plot. That's a short simple way of describing it, and needless to say there's lots of potential choices to choose from, all depending on how you choose to exactly define a Macguffin. The three hosts here have some differing ideas on what actually qualifies as one, so there's some healthy debate and a fairly diverse set of choices in the three lists! In this livestream episode, your hosts Megan Guess and Larry Roberts sat down to discuss a recent article that has been causing much debate and controversy. Recently the website CLEVELAND.COM ran an article titled, "THE GREAT ROCK HALL PURGE: WHICH HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES DON'T BELONG?" The writers came up with their own method of choosing which inductees meet their criteria for truly belonging in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and went through every year's inductees from 1986 through 2021 and choose which artists should be "purged" from the Rock Hall. Needless to say this has caused quite a bit of argument and consternation amongst the public, and since this was being hotly discussed in our own group on Facebook (THE GEEKING SQUAD GROUP) we thought it'd be fun and interesting to sit down and go through the lists and offer our own opinions and insights on the matter. Many, many classic and amazing artists were purged due to this new proposed methodology from Cleveland.com and needless to say it resulted in some flared tempers!! During the livestream we had an open chat going with people from the Geeking Squad Group and we tried to include their input as much as possible with our own thoughts and quips.
