Welcome to the SEVENTH episode of the revamped, all-new GEEKING SQUAD PODCAST (aka THE SQUAD'CAST)! This is a pop-culture centric show where we discuss everything from movies to television to comics and toys to music and so much more. Your hosts Larry Roberts and Megan Guess delve into some of the latest news in pop culture, as well as discuss some "real talk" about geeky topics that are currently highlighted in the news and such. In addition to that, they'll be doing some trivia and games as well as contests, and focus primarily on the topics that have been featured lately in the Geeking Squad Group on Facebook (free and easy to join!) Join us for some fun discussion about all things geeky!
TOPICS COVERED IN THIS EPISODE:
WHATS SHAKIN BACON:
- MARVEL COMICS are releasing facsimile versions of the 1984 comics of SECRET WARS and AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.
- DC COMICS announced that they're releasing an alternate version of BATMAN #428 which originally featured the death of Jason Todd.
- Larry mentions the fact that Oct. 17th 2023 is the date in the MCU when Tony Stark dies.
- Megan is excited for the return of the McDonald's BOO BUCKETS with four new designs.
- Burger King has also announced their own Halloween themed bucket, released in conjunction with their Ghost Pepper food items menu.
- Larry is excited that the latest issue of Plaid Stallions' TOY VENTURES magazine is reportedly due to ship very soon, and will likely review Issue #11 in a long-overdue new episode of Geeking Toyetic.
SQUAD TALK:
- With not much new in the real-life science geek news happening, Larry and Megan instead discuss more "choose memes":
-- In Living Color vs. MAD-TV (and Megan's startling revelation about SNL!)
-- Billy Madison vs. Happy Gilmore (and more head=scratching revelations from Megan...)
-- Tombstone vs. Unforgiven (now it's Larry's turn to confound people)
-- Doug vs. Rugrats (and we disappoint a lot of '90's kids...)
-- Choose Three Star Wars characters to protect you, the others will hunt you: Obi Wan, Anakin, Luke, Han Solo, Ahsoka, Captain Rex, Yoda, The Mandalorian and Darth Maul.
-- Choose Three Movies, The Rest Have To Go: Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather I, The Dark Knight, Pulp Fiction, LOTR: Return Of The King, Forrest Gump, Fight Club, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-verse, and Back To The Future.
WHADDAYOU SUGGEST:
- Larry suggests checking out the new releases and NYCC exclusives from FUNKO.
- Megan suggests checking out the new series on Disney Plus based on RL Stine's "GOOSEBUMPS".
- We suggest checking out the channel CINEMA THERAPY, where licensed therapist Johnathan Decker and filmmaker Alan Seawright break down movies, scripts and characters and delve into not only the genius behind the film-making but also the interesting things that can be learned or discovered from a therapy point-of-view. www.youtube.com/@CinemaTherapyShow
